Hey guys,


Have had a lot of questions about white walls recently, How much they cost, Where to get them done etc.


The idea of this thread is for all to post any info about white wallers or ask any questions about them. This should keep the forums a little bit cleaner as well as my inbox!


Something's you should know about whitewalls:
1: Proper white walls are painted on to your tyre. The tyre is shaved back a few mm to provide a flat and adhesive surface.
2: As the side wall of your tyre is shaved back, There for compromising the integrity of the wall, It may be illegal.
3: Yes, You can get different sized and coloured walls (EG: A Red wall 20mm thick, A White wall 25mm thick etc)
4: Prices can vary. Any where from $80-$160 for all 4 wheels, Expect to pay more if getting multiple colours done.
5: They can and will become discoloured. Clean them often to prevent and remove any staining and decolourisation.
6: Different solutions are used to clean. Your everyday household cleaning products can do the job, Jiff, Ajax etc. (Ask your white waller if he recommends a solution)
7: Beware of gutters and scrubbing! These will damage your white walls
8: DO NOT use tyre shine again! This will permanently stain your white wall!


Now, My white walls are done by Jaime from Mr White Walls in Geebung. He does a complete (and great quality) job for $150. My wheels suffer from scrubbing and obviously this is not good for the white wall itself. So to have the same tyres re-done he only charges $100.
He also sells a "special" cleaning solution for $15 which is well worth it! You will notice as soon as you use it how well it works. Jaime will also do Red coloured walls as well.

My brother just got bluewalls done on his VL. It's actually up in members rides atm.


For all 4 tyres it cost $80.

Mr White Walls does both Red and White walls. As for size i got the largest but he does do others. Best option is to call and ask him mate

Ahhh yes. Have heard about these. If im not mistaken they are made from latex?

If heard reports of this falling/flying off while driving...

At the end of the day, The proper paint on walls can last you years or ask aslong as your tyres do. So $150 for something that might last you 2 years really isnt that pricey!

Not really... However i doubt he would physically fit a 28 or 30 inch rim on his machine!

a couple more tips more tips about whitewalls as ive had them on my hq for the last 5 years.

1st. dont hit gutters!!! learnt the hard way with my first set.

2nd.dont use tyre shine on them as it attracts dirt and it will stain your whitewalls and leve them a dirty yellow/brown colour.and if left for too long can permanantly stain them.

3rd.best way to clean that ive found is jif(or any other sort of kitchen cleaner)and a toothbrush.it takes a while but it works well.also wd40 doesnt work to bad.

havnt tried the cleaner that mr whitewalls sells but i will have to buy some.

hope this has been some help to you guys!!

another thing to consider:

Ill save you the time wasting now. you CANNOT paint new tyres they must be weathered at LEAST 500km's. the older the better! (and the less tyre shine'd the better as well)

If you have tyre shined your tyres alot...do yourself a favour and get the tyres flipped/rotated to inside so they dont discolor, even a small amount of silicon will kill your white walls!!! The silicon in tyre shine will make your white walls go yellow within a week to a month depending how much the sun hits them to draw it to the surface of the tyre while its hot.

If you dont have a choice but to work with a side which HAS had tyre shine on them then clean them with a degreaser when the tyres are HOT and in the sun...repeat a few times will u get that dry look...do this for a week or so.

Ive got red walls on my 20" wheels, that are on my commo. if you want pics just pm me i havent taken any yet.
